Terry Dwyer Obituary

Terry M Dwyer, 76, of Oneida, and a life-long resident of the Syracuse area, died peacefully at home on March 15th, 2023, after a hard-fought battle against cancer.

Terry received a Business Degree from Nichols College in Dudley, MA. He worked for Continental Can Corporation, Bristol Myers Squibb, General Electric, Carrier and retired from OneSource in 2018. In his youth, Terry enjoyed hunting small game and fishing. He was a devoted husband and father who had a dry wit and a twinkle in his eye for mischief. He had a penchant for reading the stock market and an uncanny ability to be both thrifty and generous to a fault.

Terry is survived by his wife Joanne (née Platz) Dwyer and his son Terry (Marjorie) and grandsons Jason, Jacob, and Jack Dwyer; stepsons Samuel and Matthew Platz; cousins Robert (Ingrid) Dwyer, Michael Dwyer, Barbara Conley Waldmiller (Kenneth); numerous other family members; and devoted friend Chad (Mary) Burkett.  Terry is pre-deceased by his first wife Josephine (née Pettenato), and his parents Edward (Laura) Dwyer of Florida and his grandfather Frank Farley of Mattydale.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 11th, at 11AM at St. Patrick Church, 347 Main Street, Oneida, NY 13421. There are no calling hours. A private burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice and Palliative Care of Oneida, Herkimer, and Eastern Madison Counties, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd, New Hartford, NY 13413, or visit http://www.hospicecareinc.org.
