Queensbury-Rocco J. Lumbrazo, 82, a former Oneida resident, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2021, with his family by his side, at the Glens Falls Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Son of the late Rocco J. Lumbrazo Sr. and Eunice Lisi Lumbrazo, Rocco was born in Oneida on December 28,1938. He graduated from Oneida High School and attended Mohawk Valley Community College. Though he physically left Oneida in 1970 for his career with Noxell/CoverGirl Corporation in Middletown, New York, Oneida remained his home in his heart. He was energized by people and their stories, and he had the gift of raising people's spirits. He was hardworking and never wanted to retire. He worked in sales, owned an insurance business, owned Pizza parlors, and worked in construction safety. Unlike those who simply leave their dreams unpursued, Rocco's optimistic nature enabled him to strive for one dream after the other. There was never failure, just a new lesson to be learned. He was particularly proud of co-founding Town of Walkill Little League and serving as vice president and president for many years.
Rocco leaves his wife Nancy Hanley Lumbrazo, who he married in 1963 and loved endlessly. He was a devoted and loving father to his children: Dr. Michelle Antiles, Rocco J. Lumbrazo III, and Kenneth M. Lumbrazo Sr.; a loving father-in-law to Dr. Joshua Antiles and Angela Lumbrazo; a loving grandfather to Dr. Kenneth Lumbrazo Jr., Corrin Lumbrazo, Cassie Lumbrazo, Ilana Antiles, Umberto Lumbrazo, and Sarah Antiles; was a loving brother to Mary Ann Lumbrazo MaHoney; and had a special place in his heart for great-niece Mallory MaHoney.
He was predeceased by his brother Anthony Lumbrazo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Rocco, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, on December 29, 2021 at 10 AM. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. The care of Rocco and his family, has been entrusted to Jeffrey T. Paul of the Coolican-McSweeney & Paul Funeral Home.
