Nancy Lumbrazo Obituary

Queensbury/Oneida-Nancy A. Lumbrazo, 81, passed away on February 4, 2023 with her son Ken beside her at Ellis Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Daughter of the late Kenneth Hanley and Lillian (Ford) Hanley, Nancy was born on September 21, 1941 in Rochester, NY. She graduated from East High school in 1959.

Nancy married Rocco J. Lumbrazo Jr. in 1963, and together, they raised their family in Middletown, NY. She was a loving, devoted wife who supported her husband’s ambitions by learning a new craft for each of Rocco’s endeavors. She worked in the insurance business, served on his political campaign, and worked in the family pizza parlors. Ultimately, she retired at age 75, as a dental assistant for Dr. Donato Napoletano whom she greatly respected.

Nancy was the loyal matriarch for her family. She adored her grandchildren and would brag to everyone about their accomplishments, even if her facts were a bit exaggerated. She babysat for them, which she often credited for "adding years to her life."

She always found time to care for the most vulnerable cats and dogs by rescuing countless strays. She gave a loving home to animals with health and behavior problems who would surely have been euthanized without her intervention. She was a regular donor to the Humane Society.

Nancy anticipated the holidays and prepared with vigor. She created a magical ambiance with displays and decorations that are truly memorable. Between holidays, she arranged a cozy atmosphere with a designer's eye in her home.

She was a reserved, quiet woman who loved reading and puzzles. She once remarked, “How can anyone be bored with so many puzzles and books?” She maintained an optimistic attitude throughout her life even during her final days. She taught her children not to feel sorry for themselves and to always take responsibility for their actions. She is at peace with her beloved husband and will be dearly missed.

Nancy  was a devoted and loving mother to her children Dr. Michelle Antiles, Rocco J. Lumbrazo III, and Kenneth M. Lumbrazo Sr.; a loving mother-in-law to Dr. Joshua Antiles and Angela Lumbrazo; a loving grandmother to Dr. Kenneth Lumbrazo Jr. (Alyson Erardy), Corrin Lumbrazo Wolf (Nick Wolf), Cassie Lumbrazo, Ilana Antiles (Jason Greenberg), Umberto Lumbrazo, and Sarah Antiles; was a loving sister to John Hanley and Wendy (Hanley) Conte; and had a special place in her heart for her sister-in-law Mary Ann (Lumbrazo) Mahoney; nephews Casey Conte, Jesse Conte, and Willy (Sara) Mahoney; and great-niece Mallory Mahoney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Rocco, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 12 PM. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
