Oneida-Louise M. Lockwood, 73, of Meadow Drive, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 8, 2023.
She was born in Utica on July 20, 1950, the daughter of the late Joseph and Geraldine Creedon Sefcheck. Louise was raised in Oriskany Falls and graduated from Oriskany Falls High School. She furthered her education by completing the courses required to become a certified Dental Hygienist. Louise enjoyed her career and retired after 42 years of working for various area dentists. In 2004, Louise was united in marriage to Joel Lockwood Sr. at St. Patrick’s Church. She had volunteered her time for many years in the organization of Missing and Exploited Children. Louise was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Louise is survived her husband Joel H. Lockwood Sr. of Oneida; her sons John Taylor and Jeffrey Taylor both of Florida; her brother Joseph (Deborah Sefcheck of Clinton; sisters Johanna (Brian) Whalley of Canastota and Colleen (John) Abrams of Utica; her step son Joel H. Lockwood Jr. and Karl Lockwood both of Oneida; her aunt Barbara Creedeon; several nieces and nephews; and two great nieces and several cousins. Louise is also survived by special friends Sharon and Reggie.
She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Geraldine, and her sister Mary Louise Sefcheck. Several aunts, uncles and cousins had also predeceased Louise.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 12, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Oneida, at 12:30 PM, with the Rev. James Buttner as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Oriskany Falls. Louise and her family are being provided with personal and professional care by Jeffrey T.
