Karen Wiggins Obituary

Oneida Castle-Karen L. Wiggins, 71, passed peacefully on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the Oneida Healthcare Center, with the love and support of her family at her side.

 She was born in Oneida, on January 31, 1950, the daughter of the late Robert and Harriet Nadeau Eckhard.  Karen was a life resident of Oneida and had graduated from Oneida High School.  Karen had made her career working in the Food Service Department at the Turning Stone Casino Resort and Event Center.  She had an outgoing personality and enjoyed not only her coworkers, but also loved caring for the patrons of the casino. Prior to the Turning Stone, Karen had been a Dental Assistant in the Utica for many years.  For many years, Karen was a creative crafter, hand making various crafts and selling them at craft fairs. Karen loved to “hang out” with her best friends: Sally Bruse, Debby Kline, and Linda Barlow. She enjoyed any time for any reason her family would gather together. Karen was devoted mother and grandmother, whose family were the, “Center of her World.”

 Karen is survived by her beloved children, her daughter Gerri Bender of Munnsville; her son Robert Carpenter, and his life partner, Deborah Riccardi, of West Palm Beach, FL; her daughter and son-in-law Christina and Matthew Seabrook of Belton, MO; her cherished grandchildren: Kayla Carpenter Simler, Joseph Carpenter, Douglas Bender, Louis Bender, Sarah Bender and Annika Seabrook; her two beloved great- granddaughters, Alexis Simler and Kourtney Simler; her brother and sister-in-law Jim and Jean Ekchard of Oneida; her brother John Eckhard also of Oneida; several nieces and nephews.

 She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Harriett, her husband Douglas Wiggins, and her sister Cassalyn Buell. Karen was also predeceased by her companion Terry Rose.

 In keeping with Karen’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services held. Karen’s family have entrusted their care to Jeffrey T.
