Joseph V. Carro, Jr., 56, of Oneida, passed away after a long battle with heart disease on Thursday, February 13, 2020.
He was born May 7, 1963, in Rome, the son of Adelia Benedict Carro and the late Joseph V. Carro, Sr. He was a graduate of Holland Patent Central school and attended MVCC. Joe was employed with General Mill Work in Utica and later with Kelley Brothers in Syracuse. On August 21, 2004, at Friendship Baptist Church in Rome, he married Margaret “Meg” Griffin.
Joe was an avid golfer and also enjoyed volleyball. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Aside from his wife, Meg Carro; he is survived by his three daughters, Dana Gaska and husband Daniel, Kimberly Carro, and Jenna Carro; three stepsons, Matthew Griffin, Mitchell Loomis and wife Christa, and Nicholas Loomis; mother, Adelia Carro, four siblings, Sherry Auwater, Rick Carro, Matthew Carro, and Anthony Carro; as well as two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His daughters would like to express a special thank you to his wife, Meg, for all the years of love and care she gave their father, as well as his two special friends, Rick Cardinal and Bill Case, for the years of friendship.
His funeral and celebration of life will be Tuesday at 7 pm at Friendship Baptist Church, 4964 Rome-New London Road, Rome, with Pastor Jeff Carpenter officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at the convenience of the family in Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours will be Tuesday at the church from 4-7 pm, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Friendship Baptist Church.
