George Janse Obituary

George E. Janse, 77, of Brooksville, FL, passed away on December 5, 2020 at Oak Hill Hospital, after a long battle with emphysema.

He was born in Syracuse the son of the late George A. and Ruth Stanton Janse, soon moving to Oneida where he attended school, graduating in the Class of 1961.  He served in the US Army, mostly in Germany.  In 1969, he graduated from SUNY Cobleskill and embarked on a career as a computer programmer.   He spent many years working for Xerox Corporation in Rochester and Los Angeles, CA and later worked for Rothe Corporation in San Antonio, TX, after which

 he retired to Florida. 

George enjoyed bowling and family reunions and played in various softball leagues.  He was of the protestant faith and spent many enjoyable hours studying the bible. 

He is survived by his brother, Sheldon “Bud” Janse of Brooksville, FL; two nieces, Kathe Adamiak (Pete Hoyt) of Hunting Beach, CA and Phyllis Hudson of Constantia; two nephews, Ben Janse (Jane Bradley) of New York City and Mike Janse of Oneida; and several great nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Adrianna Klippel in 2020; and his sister-in-law, Rachel Janse in 1991.

A private graveside service will be held in the spring in Maple Flats Cemetery in Cleveland, NY.

Arrangements are with Coolican-McSweeney Funeral Home, Oneida.
