Sherrill-Floyd M. Lewis, 81, passed away peacefully with his family by his side with love and support on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at the Oneida Healthcare Center.
Floyd was born on March 26, 1941 in the Town of Augusta the son of the late John and Elgirtha Tooker Lewis. Floyd grew up in Augusta and was a graduate of the Oriskany Falls High School. In his earlier years he worked for Fred Oliver in the Augusta-Oriskany Falls area. In later years, he became a truck driver. Floyd retired from the Oneida-Madison Milk Cooperative in 2010 at the age of 70. He had previously worked for several other various milk haulers to include: Glenn Satterly , Wadham’s, and Perry Ball. Floyd enjoyed his life-long career driving milk truck and making various farm friends over the years. On June 11, 2006, Floyd was united in marriage to Barbara Best- Winans after being together for many years. Floyd had spent many hours on the road, and enjoyed his home time with Barb the most. He enjoyed bowling, and country music. He loved to go out on Saturday’s nights to the Beaver Den’s Restaurant in Brookfield. He also loved any time he could be with his family making new memories. He will be deeply missed by all who love Floyd.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife Barbara; his children Kevin (Colleen) Lewis, his daughter Sherry Lewis, his daughter Terra Lewis; his stepchildren David (Phyllis) Winans, Timothy (Debra) Winans Jeffrey Winans, Penelope “Penny” (William) Stewart; his sister Martha Champion; his sister-in-law Gloria Lewis; his sister-in-law Iva Lewis; his beloved nine grandchildren: Clinton, Casey, Corey, Kaila, Timothy, Jesse, Billy, Cody, and Stephanie; 8 beloved great grandchildren. Floyd is also survived by several nieces and nephews and close friends.
Floyd was predeceased by his parents John and Elgertha, his brothers Frank and Henry also his brother and sister-in-law Robert and Joan Lewis.
Floyd’s funeral will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at 1 PM at the Coolican-McSweeney and Paul Funeral Home, 322 Washington Avenue, Oneida. There will be a visitation from noon to 1 PM prior to the service. Interment services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Floyd and his family‘s care is being provided by Jeffrey T.
