Earl S. Woods Jr.

Earl S. Woods, Jr, 83, of Canastota NY, passed away at the Oneida Health and Rehab Center on November 18, 2022. Earl was born in Chicopee MA on May 11, 1939, to Earl & Irene Woods (Grabiec). Graduate of Wayland Highschool, MA, 1957. And graduate of General Motors Institute, MI, 1961.

Earl married Elaine E. Medlyn in Flint MI, 1961 and together they had three children, Edwin E. Woods, Sheirel A. Mordaunt, and Patricia J. Watkins.

Earl enjoyed employment at General Motors in Framingham, MA. Hysol-Dexter Group in Olean, NY. Crouse Hinds in Syracuse, NY. And building stairs with his son at Precision Woods Inc. in Central New York.

He was quite the outdoors man enjoying hunting, fishing, canoeing and camping. Or you would find him in his wood shop making sawdust building “A Woody Creation”.

Earl’s other loves was local community theatre, active member of Clay Towne Players, acting, producing and building sets. He loved to build things: their home in Canastota, a cottage on Lake Ontario and assisting friends and family in their remodeling projects. He cherished his life at St Paul’s Methodist church. As a trustee, as the parsonage and sanctuary remodeler and volunteering for mission work. The love of food and their gourmet dinner group.

Earl’s true love was his family. He is survived by his wife Elaine. Three children: Edwin, Sheirel and Patricia. Six grandchildren: Daniel, Nicholas, Kyle, Leslie, Alice and Lillian. One great grandchild: Dominick. He was predeceased by his mother, father and brother William.

Celebration of life services will be held at St Paul’s Methodist church on January, 7th 2023 at 1:00pm.
