Canastota-Cynthia L. Relyea, 66, passed away peacefully at Oneida Healthcare on Thursday, December 21, 2023, with the love and support of her family at her side.
She was born at the former Canastota Hospital on December 7, 1957, the daughter of the late Pierce and Maude Smith Relyea. Cindy was raised in the North Chittenango area, but mostly in her adult life lived in the Canastota area. She made her career in farming, working the muck lands and working on various local farms. She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Cindy was always sarcastic to family and friends, but always in a loving way. She was deeply devoted to her grandchildren and always enjoyed any moment that she could spend with them. Cindy was of the Catholic faith.
She is survived by her twin daughters Amanda Relyea of Canastota and Jade Relyea of Fayetteville; her siblings: Bob (Yavonne) Relyea of Vernon, Joan Relyea of Oneida, Patricia Relyea of Canastota, and Christine (Jon) Granger of Williamstown; her cherished grandchildren: Serenity Moore, Graisen Moore, and Romin Relyea. Cindy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Cindy was predeceased by her parents Pierce and Maude, her sister Shelia Cassada, her brother Stanley Relyea and her cherished granddaughter Aria Relyea.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 4-6 PM at the Coolican-McSweeney & Paul Funeral Home, 322 Washington Avenue, Oneida. There will be a prayer service at the conclusion of calling hours. Personal and professional care is being provided to Cindy and her family by Jeffrey T.
