Vernon-Christopher Robin Langdon, 60, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Oneida Healthcare Center.
Chris was born on June 2, 1963, in Baudette, MN, the son of Charles and Linda Lou Burns-Langdon. On July 9, 2016, in Vernon, he was (finally) united in marriage to Lori Matteson-Hinman after 22 years together. For over 38 years, Chris had been an independent contractor and a fantastic home builder. For the past 5 years, Chris had been a very well-loved mechanic in the maintenance department at the Oneida Healthcare Center. Outside of work, he held a deep fondness for the great outdoors for its peace and beauty. Chris enjoyed his bird sanctuary at home and all wildlife wherever he was. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who was just as much at “home” in the woods or on the water. Chris’ greatest joys were making trips to spend time with his girls and any time spent with his family and loved ones at their family camp on the St Lawrence River. Not only was “The River” a place to escape the daily grind, but it was also a place where some of his greatest family memories were made. Chris will always be remembered as the man who could fix anything, the one to always lend a hand, and more than anything, his love for Lori and his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife Lori, his children: Michael, Andrea, Courtney, Nicole, and Cassandra; his father Charles Langdon; his brother Kevin Langdon; and his cherished grandchildren: Jaelyn “Dew Drop,” Ira, Amelia “Pumpkin,” Maxwell, and Miles. Chris also leaves behind several other family members and close friends.
Chris was predeceased by his mother Linda, his stepmother Diane, and his father & mother-in-law Mike & Joan Matteson.
Chris’ family will gather privately at the Coolican-McSweeney & Paul Funeral Home on Thursday to honor Chris’ Life. Following the private family service, all are invited to attend a celebration of Chris’ life to be held at the Westmoreland Fire Department, 101 Station Road, Westmoreland from 5-7 PM, dress is casual. Personal and professional care is being provided to Chris and his family by Jeffrey T. Paul, Director, of the Coolican-McSweeney & Paul Funeral Home.
