Laurence J. Keenan, 76, of Eaton, formerly from Oneida, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, with his family by his side.
He was born February 2, 1942, in New York City, the son of the late Laurence and Anna Dirscherl Keenan. He attended Morrisville College. For over 20 years, Larry was a Police Officer with the City of Oneida Police Department. He also drove school bus for the Oneida City School District and the Stockbridge Valley Central School. From 1989 until 2016, Larry owned and operated the Munnsville Hotel. He was a member of the Owls Nest #1606, Oneida Elks Lodge #767, the Sons of the American Legion Post #169 and the Police Benevolent Association.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Russell Keenan of Eaton; three children, Kathy (John) Meyers of Palm Bay, FL, Karen (Bill) Mason of Eaton and Fred Keenan and Kellina of Morehead, KY; a sister, Ann Marans of Bethlehem, PA; six grandchildren, Jessica, Alycia, Melissa, Amanda, Billy and Killian; three great-grandchildren, Eva, Leena and Riley; and many nieces and nephews.
The calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 pm with the funeral services to follow at 4 pm at Coolican-McSweeney Funeral Home, 322 Washington Ave., Oneida.
