Bernadine V. Walters, 97, of Verona, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Betsy Ross Rehabilitation in Rome.
She was born October 18, 1921, in Oriskany, the daughter of Louis and Freida Schmid Smith. She was a graduate of Oriskany High School and the Utica School of Commerce. On January 26, 1946, at St. Stephen’s Church, Oriskany, she married Ernest F. Walters. He passed away May 19, 2006. Mrs. Walters was employed with Rome Cable and later with Madison-Oneida BOCES. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church, Oneida.
She is survived by four children, Ted (Linda) Walters of Verona, Vicki (Donnie) Brunk of Springfield, MO, Ronald Walters of Taberg and Bernadette (Fred) Carncross of Marcy; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Walters was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 am at St. Joseph’s Church, Oneida, with Rev. Richard J. Kapral officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. A calling hour will be held at the church on Monday from 10-11, prior to the Mass.
