Peter P. Girard

Munnsville- Peter P. Girard,66, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at the Oneida Healthcare Center, with the love and support of his family at his side.

He was born in Springfield, MA, the son of the late Carlton and Margaret Priest Williams.  Pete was raised in Cazenovia and attended Cazenovia High School.  He furthered his education by joining the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1976.   He then started a life-long career as a tractor trailer driver.  He enjoyed the long-haul travels for the people he met and the beautiful scenery of the United States.  Over his career, Pete had worked for various trucking companies and logged too many miles to count. His final driving job was with NAPA Transportation, retiring in 2020.  Pete loved nature and taking pictures of its beauty, especially flowers. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and chasing sunsets. Pete also was a devoted NASCAR Fan, who especially loved Dale Earnhart.  Most of all, no matter where Pete was, miles could not separate his love for his family, and especially his grandchildren.

Pete is survived by his wife Donna; his children Jennifer (Steve Kupiec) Girard, and Amanda (Shane Chambers) Girard; his brother Charles Williams; his sister Susan Spencer; his cherished grandchildren: Alijah Hawver, Aiden Hawver, Maci Guilmette, Makenzie Kupiec, and Brixley Chambers.  Pete is also survived by his girlfriend/lifelong friend, Stephanie Bodley; their two cats Cali and KeKe. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and close friends. Peter was predeceased by Jean Greeney, Janice Bruinsma, Barbara Wilcox, Brenda Williams, and Sharon Williams.

There will be a celebration of Pete’s life to be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Oneida American Legion Post, 169, 398 North Main Street, in Oneida, from 11 AM to 3 PM.  Interment service will be held with Military Honors in Evergreen Cemetery, Cazenovia.  Personal and professional care is being provided to Pete and his family by Jeffrey T.
