Bancroft W. Countryman
Oneida-Bancroft W. Countryman, 62, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
He was born in Oneida on November 4, 1961, the son of the late Frederick and Genevieve Treen Countryman. He was raised in Oneida and was a graduate of Oneida High School. Family and friends always lovingly called him by his nickname, Ban or Banny. He had worked for numerous years in Munnsville at the Ferris plant and previously, at Oneida Limited.
Ban is survived by his sister Penny Smith of Leesville, LA; and his brother Vernon Smith of Oriskany, NY. He is also survived by two nieces: Denise Shamis (Jim) and Tracy Owens (Rob), several great nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Genevieve, sister-in-Law Carol Smith, nephew Dennis Smith, and a brother-in-law Donald Smith.
Ban’s Memorial Service will be held on Saturday April 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at the Coolican-McSweeney & Paul Funeral Home, 322 Washington Avenue, Oneida, with the Rev. Wayne Grow officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Flats Cemetery, Cleveland, New York. There will be a one-hour visitation at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
